Welcome to the website of the Morvern Community Development Company

MCDC was set up in 1999 following encouragement by the Morvern Community Council to purchase and own land on which it would develop and then lease out, a much needed petrol station in Lochaline. It was envisaged that if successful, the company would then go on to develop other similar opportunities within the area to further its stated objectives

The Community Company is a Company Limited by Guarantee and is managed by a Board of Directors which is made up of those with a keen interest in furthering the aims of the Company and are representative of the different sectors of interest within the community. At least two Directors must be Morvern Community Councillors.

Our objectives (per Memorandum and Articles of Association) are :
To create and develop opportunities for inward investment and development for the benefit of all residents of Morvern, Argyll, Scotland in terms of:

  • basic services
  • social, cultural and educational facilities
  • economic, training and employment facilities and opportunities
  • health care, community care and day-care facilities
  • amenity and sheltered housing
  • environmental protection and enhancement
